The redesign of the entrance of the Provincial Library Hasselt was necessary due to the switch to the RFID safety system. The new book sorter system had to be integrated and a new desk to be develloped. The design started from the idea of wrinkled paper, to make a connection or metaphor with books. The first designs of the big desk were modelled in paper and the use of computer for creating the complex shape was needed. It resulted in a futuristic but functional sculpturous shape, with a Pral-surface, on a background of big iconic pictures. Other elements were accordingly shaped and the use of white introduced, to make a fresh look.
